I hope you can help. I accidentally deleted the entire uploads directory of my site which has removed hundreds of images from my website. I could cry!

As you can see in this screenshot the structure of the albums etc are still OK in the plugin admin panel and I have all the original images still on file. However, it seems that the plugin renamed the images as I uploaded them, so I don’t know if I can just copy these back onto the server and they’ll just work or not?

Can you tell me what the quickest, best and easies way is to re-upload all the images onto my server so that they just work again / the plugin recognises them without having to recreate all the albums again please?

Thank you so much in advance!!

    Do the following:

    – Make sure the …/wp-content/uploads/wppa/thumbs/ directory exists ( you may run Table VIII-A1 Setup to achieve this ).

    – ftp all your original images to your depot directory, something like …/wp-content/wppa-depot/[yourloginname]/

    – Make sure there are no subdirs in your depot

    – Then go to the Photo Albums -> Import admin page.

    – TICK THE Update existing photos CHECKBOX !!!!!

    – press the Start Ajax button.

    – Praise the Lord and thank me after completion.

Will this work even though the source files are named but the plugin altered the names to be sequential numbers? I only have the named version of the images!

    Thanks Jacob!!

Also should I leave these checked (or should I uncheck them)?

Yes! This is the only way it works. You NEED to have them in original filenames. The db is searched for photos with the filenames found in the depot and even if you have them twice in different albums, they both are updated.

Sorry last question – local or remote depot?

    Thanks Jacob!!

Local. You will see the photos, all with a checkbox. You can start immediately ( Start Ajax ) IF THE UPDATE CHECKBOX IS CHECKED!!!! you do not need to wait until all thumbnails are visible.

And the ‘Import photos from’ selection box should read: — My depot —
