Hi! We have a curious problem: We use the “posts by tag” sidebar widget on pages and posts, but on some pages it is not working correctly.

They are all setup exactly the same and all use the same sidebar/widget, the widget is just set to “get tags from current post”.

For example, this page is right:
    http://kosmetik.bluemonkeys.eu/haut/
(It gets all posts related to skincare by multiple tags)

    This page is wrong: http://kosmetik.bluemonkeys.eu/naturkosmetik/
(It seems to get all posts with the tag “presse” and none else)

The pages themselves always use the theme page composer plugin with a “Latest by Category” section.

I also tried switching completely to the custom fields, but the result is the same: It works on some pages, but still shows the “presse” posts on other pages…

    Best, Gerald

Is the tag “presse” present in the post on the second page?

There is no second page for “naturkosmetik” :-/
What i can tell you: The 4th post (“STUDIE 2014 -> http://kosmetik.bluemonkeys.eu/naturkosmetik-wunsch-oder-wirklichkeit/) has only the tag “presse”, but is in the categories Presse AND Naturkosmetik.

BUT: I already tried removing the post, the presse category and the presse tag, it does not change anything 🙁

I guess the problem lies somewhere in the category/tag thing.
On this page it is also wrong:
    http://kosmetik.bluemonkeys.eu/deo-duft-parfum/

And: the last post again has “presse” and “duft & deo” as categories, but only “presse” as a tag.

    Does this help?
Can i do something to at least get also the other tags from the other posts?

    OK, i tried again:

    • Removing PRESSE as a category does nothing
    • Removing PRESSE as a tag or both category and tag does nothing
    • Putting the one offending post into the trash works, then the posts in the sidebar are correct

    What to do?

Changing category will not have any effect.

I am still not able to fully understand what is the issue.

Can you tell me what are the tags that are present in the offending post?

    Thread Starter kopfnick

    (@kopfnick)

There are 4 Posts on the page for “Naturkosmetik” (http://kosmetik.bluemonkeys.eu/naturkosmetik/).

Tags post 1: ALLERGIE, NATUR, NATURKOSMETIK
Tags post 2: ALLERGIE, NNATUR, NATURKOSMETIK, RECHT
Tags post 3: BIO-KOSMETIK, KOSMETIKRECHT, NATUR, NATURKOSMETIK, RECHT
    Tags post 4: PRESSE

So basically, all tags from posts 1-3 are ignored, only the “PRESSE” from post 4 is used for the sidebar.

What i just noticed: Maybe the plugin only is able to pull the tags from the last post on this page?

I guess in the end it has to do with the page composer used in the theme.

If i use a “normal” page template and enter the tags in the custom fields (which would be a nice workaround), it works. If i switch on the page composer template and use exactly the same sidebar setup, all related posts are gone :-/

    Yes, that’s the reason.

When my plugin tries to automatically pick tags it picks it up from the current page/post.

So when you use the page composer it will pick up tags from page composer and not from the posts that appear inside the composer.

    Thanks for your help!
