Integrate Modern Tribe with Solostream Portfolio Template

Need guidance regarding integrating The Events Calendar categories with a Solostream wp-responsive template called portfolio.

A page created on the Solostream template portfolio displays posts based on a WordPress Category. See directions below. The step basically gives directions to obtain a CATID for a WordPress category and then apply that CATID as a custom variable to the page. All works with WordPress categories, but not with Modern Tribe categories.

I checked with Solostream tech support. They recommended I contact Modern Tribe tech support.

Step 4 – Create a Custom Field Containing the Category ID of Your Main Portfolio Category

On the Add Page screen, scroll down to the Custom Fields box. Click the “Enter New” link to create a new custom field. For the Name field, enter “catid” without the quotes. Then, for the value field, you’ll need to enter the category ID of your main Portfolio category.

To get the category ID, in your WP dashboard click Posts >> Categories. Then hover your mouse over your Portfolio category. When you do that, the status bar in the lower left corner of your browser will show something like this:

In the above example, the category ID is 3.

After you’ve entered the custom field name (catid) and the category ID in the value field, click the “Add Custom Field” button to save the custom field.

When I reviewed a Modern Tribe Category using the directions above, I get

http:// . . . . . . . =edit&taxonomy=tribe_events_cat$tag_Id=10&post_type=tribe_event.

Not surprisingly use of the Modern Tribe CATID = 10 failed to display any Modern Tribe posts on the portfolio template page.

Is this a similar CATID custom variable that would point to Modern Tribe categories? If so, I will abandon WordPress categories and use Modern Tribe post categories.

This need to integrate the Modern Tribe post categories is an essential design feature.
