News page overwritten by WooCommerce tempate

    Hi,

    I’m creating a custom theme that doesn’t support WooCommerce from scratch. To enable WooCommerce support I’ve followed the steps as written in the WooCommerce documentation http://docs.woothemes.com/document/third-party-custom-theme-compatibility/

    That seems to be fine as I can view the product on my shop page but there’s only one problem. From some reason my News page (index.php) is somehow overruled by the WooCommerce template file (woocommerce.php).

    It doesn’t matter if I setup my News page in General settings -> Reading or assign a custom template to the News page.

    I’m really confused why this happens and why the template(s) get overruled by WooCommerce. Any help is much appreciated.

    BTW: the site is multilingual but all slugs are already translated for the shop
