    Hi,
I have set up a child theme for zerif lite and CSS edits are working correctly. However, I have run into a couple of issues. Firstly, when I inspect elements in Chrome Dev Tools there are no css rules showing – only the box model showing padding, margin etc. Secondly, when I try to edit any of the php files in the child theme, the changes are not working/showing. For example, if I put a <h1> into the header.php as a test, it will not show up. I like the theme but do want to customise certain elements within the different sections. Maybe I am doing something incorrectly. I thought I would ask before I abandon the theme. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would be grateful.

OK – so I resolved the first problem – I removed Custom CSS plugin and now I can see CSS rules – my mistake. My other problem remains. When I edit php files I don’t get any changes to appear.

    Hi,

It’s not possible if you’ve configured the child theme correctly. Try to, only for a test, create a blank footer.php file and let me know if those changes are showing up. 🙂

    Hi Hardeep,
Thanks, I got everything going as I would like… except one thing. The mobile menu doesn’t display below 600px; actually the whole header disappears below 600. I can’t seem to find any media query/breakpoint at 600 – just wondering if you could point me in the right direction.

    Hi Hardeep,
Thanks for taking the time to get back. Site is on localhost so can’t show but problem is solved. For anyone else who may be experiencing this it is the WordPress toolbar that is the problem, go to your WordPress profile and untick the “Show toolbar when viewing site” setting in there. I think this is the solution anyway because when I unticked it my collapsed menu was available at screen sizes under 600 again – don’t know why it happened at exactly 600, but there ya go.
