Hi, no message is deleted by updates: an update just change the PHP code with the latest version, does not touch the database.

About theme, you probably should take the time to read the documentation before change or add a theme, since there is explained why theme could be deleted on update and how to manage this WordPress plugin update behavior.

Here the page of the documentation: http://www.thenewsletterplugin.com/plugins/newsletter/newsletter-themes

The same link is provided on top of the theme selection page.

About the german translation, I’m pretty sure there are errors, even if that translation was provided by Newsletter users, not by myself. Anyway, as you surely found out, the plugin let the total tanslation of every frontend message or labels. Just check the subscription steps and the subscription form panels.

If you found other places where there are german translations that cannot be changed from the plugin panel, let us know so we can fix them. More, being a free plugin, it would be useful if you being a native german speaker, could send us the corrections so we can add it to the plugin config.

    Thank you.

I don’t care about the wordpress plugin behavior.
Place the theme files outside plugin directory (wp_content/upload/something/) and you won’t be troubled again.
I had to recover the files from a backup. Now with EVERY new version I have to remember this issue – not a good idea.
And worse about it: I only got aware of this problem because I got 404 error messages of people trying to read the newsletter which now was (because of the deleted files) partly impossible.
Sorry, guys, as much as I really love your plugin, this is a big flaw.

Hi, sorry, my English is not good I I was not able to explain myself correctly.

The Newsletter plugin, SINCE THE FIRST VERSION, supports an alternative folder where custom themes can be added (and not deleted by WordPress on plugin upgrade). This is documented on this page:

    http://www.thenewsletterplugin.com/plugins/newsletter/newsletter-themes

The folder is located on wp-content/extensions/newsletter/emails/themes, it’s just required to create this path and add themes inside the “themes” folder, for example starting by copy the default one.

The explanation for your specific issue can be found on the paragraph titled:

HOW TO ADD THEMES TO A MODULE

For any other question you can use this forum or the official forum on http://www.thenewsletterplugin.com.

About the way WordPress upgrades the installed plugins, I agree it’s not clearly stated by WordPress, but everyone customizing a plugin content (images, css, js and so on) should care about it, since every plugin update deletes the original plugin folder.

    Stefano.

    Ok, thanks.
    Haven’t seen this.
I moved to folder to the mentioned directory. Seems to work.
