Play button command conflicting with video background?

I’ve had an issue plaguing me for months — on one of the websites I’ve set up, I’m using the player with custom styles above the fold, with pupunzi’s mb.YTPlayer in the background.

Whenever the play button is clicked, it pauses the background video.

I suspect the two are conflicting, somewhere in the command that is sent by the audio player. But, I have no idea where to begin diagnosing. This is a good audio player, and I’d rather see if this can be remedied before trying a different plugin…

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
