  • Why not use an image editor and create what you want as a .png and upload into WordPress.

The usual way that text is placed on top of an image is to create a DIV and set the background-image property of the DIV to point to the image file. Then any text that you place inside the DIV would be on top of the image. The main problem with that approach, though, is that you will probably get some cropping of the image because a DIV can’t proportionally resize itself according to the dimensions of a background image. If you look at the Magazine Theme demo that you linked to, if you compare the picture of the sheep in the tablet with the picture of the sheep in the cell phone, the picture in the cell phone is cropped on both sides. Same with the pictures in the middle row of the desktop compared to the pics in the middle row of the table. In the tablet, the images become cropped on the sides rather than resizing proportionally.

Ah, thanks, but does the MH Magazine template have built-in capability to do this?

You should probably ask on the MH Magazine support forum, the developer is more likely to see your question there.

Oops, good point – apologies; for some reason I thought I had been posting on that support forum.
