• On our blog, on many occasions we create posts with future dates so that it doesn’t post until the actual date.

I am using W4 Post List to show the 3 most recent posts on the home page but it always shows the post even though the date hasn’t happened yet.

Is there a way to set it so it doesn’t show the post until the actual date?

On the Post list Options page, just make sure the post status checkbox is checked for publish.

I have it checked for publish but it still shows the post even if the date is marked 2 weeks in the future.

That’s weird. Can you send me a link to the reference ?

    Hi,

Any post of which status is publish will appear always if not filtered.
The fact that the date is in the future is not a valid filter.

The solution which I uses for this is the plugin “Manage user user groups” (in admin bar “UAM”).

You can define a group (of posts) which, even with the publish status assigned, could not be displayed to visitors but only to administrator, author etc.

When you decide later that the post is available for being shown to the visitor (and or etc.) you change the UAM group(s) of the post.

This allows to me to “pre-view” by users groups, the whole functionment of the links and list, categories, tags before the “true” publication.

In this context the publish status says only : “integrate it into the test of the whole site for the users of the group(s) assigned”.

The changes of the rights of a group allows to flip-flop and to test the behavior of the group of posts attached, this with a minimum of changes.

The only limitation is that the parameters which defines which elements of a post are hidden or shown when the post is attached to a group are common to all groups (you cannot say “for these group show only title and for other hide all”, for any group connected the defined elements will be hidden or shown, the same behaviour for elements of posts but for various groups of users ).

I do think that’s your solution.

I have used these solution because with the common use of status any post not published cannot be filtered and displayed into a list by using categories, tags, dates (necessarily the publish date). The only access was by the “view article” during edition or from the admin/articles.
The tax structures cannot be commonly used in WP while a post is not published.
The use of UAM allows to create like several enhanced status property and then plan reviews, create list for reviewers etc…
The use of UAM can be commonly mixed with the use of categories of post designed for post management like “published draft of excerpt”, “ready for review” and so on, various authors and reviewers (you can hide with other filters the display of these categories and tag for not concerned users)

    Best regards

    Trebly
