Support » Plugin: Polylang » how to duplicate a page to be translated?

    Hello all,

is it possible to duplicate a page in the default language to translate it, instead of writing it from zero, so to keep some content?
Eg: pages with tables or some complicated photo galleries, it would be easier to have them duplicated so to only change the text, while already having the structure ready.

    Hi,

Had this problem recently, as unlike some of the other multi language plugins (e.g. WPML) which have this as a built-in function, Polylang does not seem to support this automatically (Yet?), but would be really nice to have in Polylang too, as it’s otherwise a great plugin.

In the meantime a reasonable workaround is to use a plugin for copying pages (e.g. https://wordpress.org/support/view/plugin-reviews/duplicate-post) to create a copy your page. You can then use the copied page as your template for the translation incl giving it a new title and url. When the translation is done you need to change the language (which initially as part of the copy process is set to the original language) and then you need to link the two pages via the Polylang functionality for this. The process of copying and linking pages is a bit of hassle, but certainly saves good bit of time for otherwise complicated pages.

@susadi : thank you for your suggestion.
I wrote to the Duplicate Post plugin author to be sure it’s compatible with WP 4.1

I found another plugin to duplicate paged and posts, which supports WP 4.1 : https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/post-duplicator

You can hack polylang as explained here: Polylang duplicate post and media translation

Hi Liuis, I am interested in your entry, but can’t find it. Can you confirm the URL please. thanks, S

    Hi All

I have the duplicate page plugin. My question @susadi @lluis is how do you link your copied/newly translated pages to serve as the translated version of your english page?
