• Hello,

since about one week WP shows a very strange behaviour in the backend.

It is a subdomain multisite setup with two sites at the moment.
I can access the network administration and the backend of one site, everythings works fine.

In the other site however i can just see the backend dashboard (subdomain.domain/wp-admin), every link I click from there, posts/pages/plugins/settings whatever, gives me the 404 page of that site.

Navigating the frontend works fine, and i can edit existing posts/pages by clicking the ‘edit …’ link in the admin bar. Clicking ‘Add new …’ brings me to the 404 page again.

I activated WP_DEBUG and can’t find anything usefull explaining this.

Does anyone have a clue on what is going on and how to fix it?

    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Mirko

The 404 page looks like the design on subdomain.domain?

What plugins are you running only on that site?

If there are no plugins different from the other sites, what network wide plugins are you running?

Hi, and thanks for your answer.

the 404 page has the design of that sites theme.

The plugins that are active on the one site but not on the other are:
    edit-flow, fusion-core, subscribe-by-email, js_composer, wp-mashsocial-wigdet, wp-status-notifier & wysiwyg-widgets

I suppose you will tell me to deactivate them one by one … which is a bit difficult as i can’t access the plugins page, but renaming the folders should do 🙂

will update once i’ve done that.

ok, I deactivated every plugin on that site (even the ones that are active in the other site too) and temporarily deactivated every network-activated plugin as well … it didn’t help.

I did use WP CLI for that – i can use it just fine, it doesn’t complain at all for that site …

When I activate a fresh installation of twentyfourteen on that site it leaves me with a ‘blank screen of death’ on every single page, no error message no nothing, nothing in the debug.log neither.
Switching back to the old theme it returns to the 404 behaviour.

What site is ‘That site’? The 404 page matches the theme of the site it’s supposed to be on?

Okay… THAT is a PHP error. You left wp_debug on, I assume.

Do a reinstall of WP’s core files (wp-cli so it’s wp core download --force) and see if that kicks it properly.
