Trying to find a simple site to emulate an existing one

I’m pretty new to WP, and I want to find a them (it could just be the 2015, and I’ll need to do a lot of work!) to match an existing site. The site is for a fellow running for mayor, and he wants to emulate kristypagan.com. It’s a very simple site, not a lot of bells and whistles, but I’m not sure if there’s a theme out there that would be a good match, or if I just need to work with the simplest of frameworks and modify it to match this site.

Do any of you WordPresserati have sage advice to impart?
