Hi oeterb, I just tested the plugin and couldn’t reproduce that error.
There are a couple situations that might cause it, though:
1. If you don’t have the ‘Active’ checkbox enabled for your individual profile, then the plugin will allow any number entered into the box. It always shows the box, regardless of whether or not your individual account has GA enabled.
2. If you have another security plugin installed, there may be a conflict between the two. Try temporarily disabling all other plugins, then check if it works. If it does, then re-enable them one-by-one until you determine which one causes the conflict, then report back here. Maybe the two developers can work together to make sure the plugins don’t conflict in the future.

In the end, after fiddling around with it and deactivating and reactivating and it still doing the same, I deleted it and went with WP Google Authenticator, by Julien Liabeuf, which is working fine.

If there is a critical security bug in this plugin, though, then it’s very important for the rest of us to know that and for it to get fixed. Would you mind giving some more details on what you tried, to help troubleshoot it?
Simply activating and re-activating the plugin probably wouldn’t change anything.
1) What were the values for the Active, Relaxed Mode, and Enable App Password settings on your profile page?
2) Did you try disabling all other plugins and you theme, to see if it worked then? If not, could you post a list of the plugins and theme you’re using, so that I can test GA with them?
