The categories can be found unter “Manage” in 1.5.
Regarding the sidebar: You need more entries in your blog to fill up the page. Or change yout template so that the sidebar sets the minimum page length…

Thanks I must have been blind, not the see the gray bar underneath. The reason the blog does not have entries is because I have just been experimenting with 1.5 but will start blogging on it soon, I still thought it would stretch despite not having content as my static pages do, I am learning this db/php stuff on the fly.
My dashboard was populated with a lot of useful information and links from WordPress, developers and contributors.
This morning it is all gone? Not just on one site, but three different ones using 1.5 2005-02-08-2230 nightlie.

Oh, joy! Now it’s back. What was that all about?
The only thing in my dashboard for about 15 minutes was the upper right block containing information about my comments, posts, etc., but none of the other stuff.
