This article is for plugins but it is the same idea for themes.

Just rename the themes folder not the plugin folder.

The error you mention above should also tell you which file the error is in. This includes the path to the file, which tells you which theme it was. You can just rename this folder as well.

My apologies WPyogi – that is true.

Was getting things mixed up with Drupal where core themes are in a different location than contrib themes. And it is getting late here.

Those are my excuses anyway 🙂
