Language switcher dropdown not working in footer

Hello,

First of all, thank you and congratulations on a great plugin! Unfortunately, I have run into a problem I can’t find the cause for, and can’t seem to find documentation/existing questions on.

The language switcher on my site appears to work as expected in pretty much all forms and situations, except for how I want to use it the most: a language switcher as a footer widget, in the form of a dropdown.

In this specific combination, selecting a different language from the dropdown simply does nothing. I tried using one widget for ‘All languages’, as well as using a seperate widget for each language, but the result was the same.

Yet the Dropdown format itself works perfectly in the topbar, and the footer widget works fine in other forms, such as Display Flags, or Display Names.

I got the impression this might be intentional for Developer purposes, but could not find any related documentation. A search for the topic also didn’t show any existing threads relevant to my specific problem (although I admit this may just be due to my inability to properly search the wordpress support forums).

So hopefully, someone can help me out or point me in the right direction!
