When you use one of the Jetpack Gallery types, Jetpack automatically adjusts the size of each image to generate a uniform gallery, where each gallery row uses the full content width.
To do so, it looks at the number of images in the gallery, as well as the image size, orientation, and the width of the site’s content area. This way, galleries will always look good even if you use both portrait and landscape images, of different sizes.

If your gallery displays one image on the first row, followed by 3 images on the second row, it’s most likely because the first image is large enough to be displayed on its own. You should be able to change that behaviour by using a smaller image.

    I hope this helps.

I have checked now, my content width is 974px, but the class gallery-row is only 690px, due to a data original width of 690px in the tiled gallery.

And I have no clue where those 690px come from!
    The pictures are 640px wide.

Unfortunately leads this to a big white space which isn’t quite nice for the eye 🙁

I am sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your help

Could you post a link to one of your galleries, so I can have a look?

If you want your site URL to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form:
    http://jetpack.me/contact-support/

It would also be useful if you could let me know the name of your theme. If I can download it and install it on a test site of mine I’ll be able to test galleries and see if I can reproduce the issue.

    Thanks!
