Issue with category selection

    I am attempting to allow people to submit their own listings for my directories.

    When I’m managing my fields, I see that category selection is necessary for the plugin to operate properly.

    However, when I attempt to use the category selection with a drop-down select list no window appears for me to input options and, as a result, I am stuck with a drop-down select list with just one option of “general.”

    I really need to get rid of that frustrating step asap so any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi mattfcom,

    Sorry you ran into issues here–let me make sure I understand the issue.

    Do you only have one category in your directory and that’s just an unnecessary step you want to eliminate?

    OR–do you have more than 1 category, and they’re not showing?

    What version of BD is this with?

    If you try to submit a listing it is the first step.

    I would like to eliminate it or change it to a mult-select list with each US state. The issue with the latter is that when I try to do that in my admin panel it gives the option but not the space to insert a comma separated list.

    As for the version, I downloaded the plugin two days ago, so, I assume it is the latest version.

    The categories are always the first step to be selected–that’s intentional because we tie fee plans to categories, so you need to pick a category so we know what to display in the submit form as well as the payment screen. It’s not something that can be skipped in the workflow.

    If you want to change the categories to be US states, that would probably give you what you want, although if you’re running Regions module, you won’t get the hierarchical search and filtering that it provides.

    I’m not sure what field you tried to put the states in–but you’ll need to change the categories under Directory->Directory Categories to make that first screen a list of US states instead.
