    Hi there,

    I am getting a 403 Forbidden error and Incorrect file/directory permissions: Below 644 for all my domains. This is of probably because of some settings in .htaccess and I wonder if you know of this issues and how to solve it?

    Here is a copy of the htaccess file:

  • You are not alone. It started on the 11th I think for me.I hope you get an answer. I have the same thing going on. Front end of site is working okay back end I can not get in 403 also.

    I talked to Hostgator and they was not any help.

    I download some files to look at I am looking at the same thing you are.

    I am thinking about dumping the whole wordpress and try to upload a backup.
    I tried a backup on my local server and it did not work out for me so far so I hesitate to dump a live site and get the same results.

    If you want to get access just remove or rename the htaccess file via FTP and replace it with a standard wordpress one. Looks like this:

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>
    # END WordPress

    That should at least give you normal access again.

    Hi have you checked to see what is your Filesystem Security settings? It sounds like you have a file and or folder permission issue.

    I found my problem. I went to bed and when I woke up. I thought to look at the
    htaccess file. I have all in one wordpress security plugin. I don’t know how I got it to where. I have to isp’s into the whitelist in order to get to login page.
    My isp changed/ I went into whitelist sip and added my new isp.

    It worked. Now I got to just activate all my plugins.
    Thanks for the suggestion.

    @kaj-jensen,
    As per @tomsfoolery2013 suggestion, did you check your current IP address versus those you have in the .htaccess whitelist?

    If your current IP address has changed, you will need to add the new IP in the .htaccess whitelist settings.

    That is exactly what I did I added my new IP address into the whitelist and it
    solved everything.

    Thanks for replying Tom

    It solved my problem too – thank you for the help with this.
