Can you create a Child theme but have another name for the theme?

    I wanted to make a Theme from a barebones theme I got from git.

    I wanted to be able to have updates and patches from the barebone theme so I was thinking a child theme is an appropriate way to do it.

    However, I do not want a bareback-theme-child (Bareback theme child) as the name that appears on wordpress – I wanted a “child theme” but it displays as “someawesome theme” and every prefixes everywhere around the site.

    Is that possible?
