NOTICE: Google Drive Viewer Not Working

    Recently, what was being used to generate thumbnails from Google Drive Viewer stopped working. Google has changed the logic that Document Gallery was relying on. This results in any future attempts to generate thumbnails through Google Drive failing.

    Any thumbnails you already have will not be affected.

    I will research alternative routes to handle MS Office files and other things that were being done by Google Drive and will update this post as additional information becomes available.

    Hi haniball,

    Nothing yet, I’m sorry to say.

    We’ve given up on using Google Drive, but I have been working on a replacement that I’m hoping will be ready for a beta release in a few months — sooner if we’re lucky.

    Following up on this topic, Document Gallery now (as of version 4.1) has a solution for MS Office filetypes (including Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Visio) as well as many other filetypes by way of the Thumber.co service. There is a small fee for use of the service, but it also comes with a 7-day trial period for the basic plan allowing you to kick the tires before investing any money in the service.
