    Does your theme have a lot of thumbnail sizes registered? Generating each image size could be adding to the time it takes, but it could also be your server’s connection to YouTube. The image download test on the debugging tab of the settings page downloads an image from YouTube, so that should help you be able to see how long your server is taking to download an image and add it to the media library.
