I naively created the bulk of content pages in my site before realizing that I needed to turn off the comment feature in Settings. However, this setting only applies to new post. General WordPress support indicates i should be able to turn comments on or off at the post level through a checkbox in Edit Page, which I have seen before while using other WP themes, but in Edin it seems to be nowhere to be found. This is also problematic if I ever wanted to enable comments on a single page.

Is this something I can fix myself without having to recreate every single page? (I am not hosting my own site, so any options in that department our out.) I’m trying to avoid relying on having to customize CSS to resolve these kinds of issues, but that’s probably too optimistic.

Actually, I’ve resolved this– sort of.

I was using the classic post editor, which does not in fact include the option to include or exclude the comment feature.

However, the new post editor does include this ability. So as long as I make sure I am in the new admin editor, I’m able to edit the comment feature.

@michellecohrene, in the post editor window, go to screen options and check “Discussions” and the discussions module should then appear down below the text area.

You have to be at Posts > All Posts and then click on a post to open it, or in the New Post window to set the above. WordPress will remember your setting and it should be there until you manually change it.
