Once they have logged into the FatSecret system your visitors can add and edit records right on your site. So yes although the Javascript API from Fatsecret requires them to login off your site.

That is why I have proposed a pro version of this plugin which would keep the login on your site. I suggest you try this plugin on your site (on a private page) to see how the Fatscret Javascript system works.

    Does that answer your question?

Hmm kind of. Thank you Jeremy. So initially they are keep records on my site…but logging in elsewhere? Can I see their info?

The information is stored on FatSecret’s servers and is accessed via your website. So they stay on your site to view your records. However, as mentioned, logging in does redirect them to FatSecret.

You may read all about the API at FatSecret’s Developer site for information. This plugin just makes it easy to deploy that system: http://platform.fatsecret.com/api/

    Do you have a link?

All I can say at this point is did you signup for the Fatsecret Developer program (using the link in the plugin) and get your javascript API key? That is necessary.

Yes Jeremy. I used the assigned API key. I signed up.
Put it all in my fatsecret section of wordpress. Put the shortcode in. It worked for a hot second for me. Another person tried to sign in on her computer and said it didnt work. I told her that it worked for me. I then tried to go back and sign and show her that it works and then i got an that s error message. my site is t r i m a n d win. com i hate putting my url on this site btw. ergmm did i do something wrong? Did I use the right API. I just seen one. But it was a link and just now clicked on it and seen various keys. I am not sure what to do with them.
    Thank You Jeremy.

That is an odd error. Unfortunately I would need to see the actual page Fatsecret is being called on.

    1) Have you tried adding the code to another page?

    2) Did you recently add, update, or activate any plugins?

It appears to be a javascript clash. I think there is something in your theme or social connect popup that is interfering with the FatSecret API.

What is occurring is a value (or values) needed by FatSecret is being redefined by another script and causing a crash.

I checked that and the connect popup was only put on today. The fatsecret didnt work yesterday and I checked my captain up plug in. Sigh.. I guess you are right. I really liked fatsecret. Dont know what to do really. I guess i will have to figure something out later. I really do need some kind of food diary/calorie/exercise plug in for my site. I have a question for you. I really am a true newbie and I am clueless on some things. If i buy diet software… or any kind of software. Is it easy to incorporate on to wordpress. I just don’t know i need something. well thank you. I thought i replied to you sooner but my connection went out and it didnt go. But thank you very much Jeremy for your time and effort. I truly do appreciate you.

It could be a theme and Fatsecret conflict. I don’t know if your site is live yet or if you are still working on it. If possible try setting the theme back to the standard WordPress theme and try the Fatsecret page.

Buying diet software? You mean another web enabled system like Fatsecret I take it. It would depend on how the software is setup as to how easy it is to work with WordPress.

There are WordPress consultants, like myself, that offer more advanced services if you need professional help with your WordPress setup.

Still, if possible, try changing theme or if you have another website powered by WordPress try it on that site.
