This is a weird problem never encountered before.

Using a new install of WP 4.1, while saving settings for the options page on discussions and avatars etc under Settings I keep getting this:

    Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access wp-admin/options.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I have changed the permissions on that file to allow all three things from the admin… what now?

I’ve also reported this to the thememaker, and I’m using the most updated version of that too.

OK it still does this with the 2013 Theme and there are NO THIRD PARTY PLUG INS yet, as it is a brand new install.

I also tried replacing the file. There are NO PLUGINS there either and the theme creator says it’s a server error even though I tried upping the permissions number.

This is probably the most important setting as it turns off those dumb avatars and comments globally.
