Taylor can you please tell us all how can we switch back to previous version?
-
All you need to do is replace the plugin folder with this: https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/custom-contact-forms.5.1.0.4.zip
In the future will you also support this older version on WP updates?
(I don’t know what feedback you received so far but I for one think that it was a terribly wrong decision to update the plugin without having backwards compatibility, because people actually used it on hundred of thousands of websites.)
Old version will not be supported unfortunately. It’s possible an upgrade tool will be created.
An upgrade tool would be awesome. As I previously said a lot of people are using your plugin so an upgrade tool from 5.1.0.5 to 6.0 (which would keep our settings) would be perfect so we can still use the plugin.
I’m managing a website for a business with hundreds of daily users and today automatically updated Custom Contact Forms to the new version. So no contact forms available before I revert back to previous version.
What the new version should at least have is a warning that contact forms from previous version will not work! I started wondering why there are no new contacts at the admin side and realized the new version does not support old shortcodes – which should also be an option, like in most totally rewamped plugins. Before that comes around, I’ll stick to the old version or change to another contact form -only plugin.
I experienced the same issue as VesaT. So how do we solve this problem? Do I need to create a new contact form so that I get a new shortcode?
Any advise on how to solve this is greatly appreciated.
An upgrader has been included in version 6.1. You may still have to cleanup some of your forms but it will get you most of the way there.
Will you also re-include the captcha in a future release? (re-captcha would be the best π )
When a message is sent, the email looks like:
ccf_name: My Name fixedWebsite: http://xxxxxxxxx.com fixedEmail: xxxxxxx@xxxxxx.com ccf_phone: 4072xxxxxxxxxxxxx ccf_message: Testing
Can this also be fixed in the next patch?
What do you want it to look like?
Something like this maybe?
Name:
My Name
Website:
http://xxxxxxxxx.com
Email:
xxxxxxx@xxxxxx.com
Some other dropdown or select that can be named in form’s config:
Whatever
Phone:
4072xxxxxxxxxxxxx

TestingJust want to second what miealex said. The old email notifications were much more user friendly.
This is what my emails used to look like:
What is your name? – text
What is your email address? – text
What is your phone number? – text
What is your wedding date? – text
Tell us about your wedding: – text
How many guests do you expect at your wedding? – text
Do you have a preference for your photographer? – drop down selection
How did you hear about us? – text
Anything else you would like to share with us? – textAnd this is what they now look like – exact same form except I disabled the dropdown menu since it’s broken:
ccf_name:
text
email:
text
ccf_phone:
text
Wedding:
text
Guests:
text
dropdown-1:
–
Source:
text

textAlso, since I have not seen this mentioned before – the dropdown questions aren’t working anymore. Highlighting a choice does not seem to trigger an actual selection. When I had this as a required item the form would not send at all and just triggered an error message “please select an item”. When I made it a non-required item the form would send but show no selection made.
Thanks for working on this.
-Michellesandsage you need to specify values for each field choice.
miealex you can edit the ‘Internal Slug’ and it should change the appearance on your emails. However you will have to use -s and no spaces..
