I must be looking right past it somehow…

Can someone please tell me where the button to add a featured image to a post disappear to on the Edit Post page?

I just upgraded from 4.0.1 to 4.1 and can’t seem to find it anywhere.

It’s still there, as long as you’re using a theme that supports it, though it may have been hidden.

When writing/editing a post/page, hit the “Screen Options” tab near the top-right and make sure that “Featured Image” is checked.

The Featured Image box should appear at the bottom of the right sidebar when writing/editing a post/page.

Aha! The key phrase there was “as long as you’re using a theme that supports it.”

It looks like the previous version of WordPress didn’t enforce the need to call add_theme_support( ‘post-thumbnails’ ) in the theme.

Adding this to my functions.php fixed the problem! Thanks, James!
