I know that one of the drawbacks to having an easy-to-use shortcode means that your plug-in needs to “listen” to every page to see if it’s called. However, it’s really slowing down my website to have force these files to download on EVERY page if I only have the grid running on a couple of pages.

I’ve had the same problem with bbpress and found the solution here:

Do you have a similar code-snippet or alternate solution I can use to only load the Thumbnail Grid css on the pages where I’m actually using it?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

Thanks for your message & for pointing this out. I will release an update within the next couple of days. We did have a reason for doing this (if you read the older support messages), but it is no longer necessary.

Thanks Adrian, I saw 4.0 come out and installed it right away – but for some reason I was still loading these files on the homepage (which is not using the thumbnail grid).

So I installed Plug In Organizer and now only activate Thumbnail Grid on the pages where I actually have a grid. This also works on all the other plug ins that do the same thing (load css and js when they’re not being used) where the plug in author isn’t as responsive as you are. : )

I’d be glad to re-activate thumbnail grid on the home page temporarily if you would like to see what I’m talking about for trouble-shooting purposes – as I know many will benefit from this update.

    Ciao,

    Hi,

I forgot to mention the settings. Did you try changing the settings to load the stylesheet in the footer? These are under Settings/Thumbnail Grid.

Thanks for the tip about Plug In Organizer.
