• Try as a I might, can’t get /wp-admin/install.php to open in a browser. It keeps opening in Dreamweaver. I’ve tried selecting the program to open it – will start out like it’s opening in a browser and then pop open in Dreamweaver. Help, please! 🙂

    Thanks!
    Bev

  • Could be that PHP is not running or configured correctly. May need to give a link to see the problem.

Forgive my slowness…but a link to what?

I have the “Open Me” html file open and it says to open /wp-admin/install.php in my browser, but it just pops open Dreamweaver instead. If I go to the wp-admin folder and attempt to select the program to open, it starts like it’s opening in a browser and then opens in Dreamweaver.

youre here for help with your wordpress install, right? so He’s asking for a link to your blog. 😉

I’m having the exact same problem as you, bev. I hope it’s not a problem between dreamweaver and explorer… file association problem perhaps? not that much of a programmer just a beginner here.

Are you opening it on your computer or accessing http://yourdomain.tld/wp-admin/install.php? If the former, your operating system or desktop environment is configured to open .php files with Dreamweaver, otherwise your browser is configured to open .php with Dreamweaver.

If you’re trying to install WP, you’ll want to upload the files to your server and access http://yourdomain.tld/wp-admin/install.php with your browser. You should be able to just goto http://yourdomain.tld and WP will start the install process for you.

    Thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately, I just figured this out after picking around for a while, and was coming to post my findings…

Can’t wait to get this stuff up and running.

Can you post the solution so the next person can google the answer? Besides, I’m curious.
