Failure to install

    The plugin has been tested thoroughly with WP 4.0 and 4.1 and no incompatibilities were found, what do you exactly mean with “locks the site”? Could you provide more details?

    The whole page (below the url bar) renders white. This sometimes happens when there’s conflict with other plug-ins, but all other ones were deactivated. I tried several times, but to no avail.

    What theme was active? Are you sure Social Media Feather was the only active plugin?
