convert 500.000 page website to WordPress

    I am working on a website with about 500.000 pages. It is a website with a catalog of products and city names like this:

    http://www.website-name.com/productname/productname-city

    With a htaccess file a php file is called with the productname and productname-city as variables. The php file generates the pages dynamically based on the variables given.

    Is there any way to do this with WordPress, without putting 500.000 pages in the WordPress database ? I googled a lot, but still have no idea where to start. Is there anybody who can point me in the right direction ?

    I would think that WordPress wouldn’t be your solution of choice because you have so many pages. Is it really necessary to have that many pages???
