Issue with 4.1 automatic update on Server 2012 R2
-
Hello,
I have a fresh install (today) of WordPress 4.0 on Windows Server 2012 R2 using Microsoft Web Platform Installer. I initially was unable to automatically update wordpress or the plugins. However, I then addeddefine( 'FS_METHOD', 'direct' );
to the wp-config, I was then able to update the plugins, but I am still unable to update from wordpress 4.0 to wordpress 4.1. The error I receive is “Downloading update from https://downloads.wordpress.org/release/wordpress-4.1-new-bundled.zip…
Unpacking the update…
The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.: wp-admin/includes/update-core.php
Installation Failed”
I have altered the file permissions for the wordpress directory under C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wordpress to allow both the user I am logged into the server and the IIS_IUSRS groups Modify permissions on that whole folder and all sub-folders and files.
I want the automatic update to work so that this server can be as hands off as possible in the future. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
Adam
