I will look into it. I suspect that it is a file permission setting on the txt file it stores the desired vanity url in. For the mean time go into the text file in the plugin goo_pref.txt and manually enter your vanity url just like the who.co is in the file and save. That way it will default to your vanity url if there is any other problems let me know.

I am running 4.1 on three different blogs and all of them are using goovain without any issues. Make sure that the file permission on the goo_pref.txt are set to 744. If that doesn’t resolve it it is probably a conflict with another plugin. Give me a list of the plugins you are running and I will setup a test environment.

Hey There, I appreciate the reply!

After messing around with it, I tried 3 separate goo.gl plugins and the problem still continued.

I ended up taking the plug ins out completely, and writing some code to check each article on load to see if it had a goo.gl shortlink stored in the postmeta table. If it didn’t have anything, it creates it. If the _googl_shortlink had reverted back to the default permalink, it fixes it.

It doesn’t stop the problem, but it does catch the results before they do any damage.

I think the culprit is the SNAP (social networks autoposter) plug in that I use to post to social media. It is the only other plug in I have that has an option to mess with shortlinks.

If you want to try the test environment with SNAP and see if you get the same results, feel free. At least then you’ll know what it is if anyone else runs both plug ins and has the same problem!

    Thanks again!

So are you saying that all the plugins you tried had the same problem and that this was specific to your personal wordpress setup?

    Yes, it appears that way.

Your plugin, is no way at fault from what I have seen.

It appears as though SNAP may be the culprit.

So for any users that run both goovain and SNAP, know that SNAP is more than likely the issue.

Thank you, I will be setting up a dev version of these two running together here in the near future to find out what is going on but for now I am going to close this ticket.
