I’m not a skilled WP user, but it seems like something is wrong. I have tried resolving this issue by switching between Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer for Windows 7.

I am attempting to simply edit a page, specifically to create a link out of some selected text on the page. After selecting the text, I click the hyperlink button in the editor, but absolutely nothing happens. It’s as though a browser’s popup blocker is preventing it, but I am not getting any dialog to that extent.

I have also noticed that if I click some other menus, such as the “Screen Options”, nothing happens either. I see the URL change to include “#screen-options-wrap” in the end of the URL, but still nothing.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Hi roperp,

The first step is to disable all plugins. Once that’s done, go back to your page and try to create a link as you normally would.

Disable the WP plugins, or my Chrome plugins? If I disable my plugins, won’t that muck a bunch of other public pages that use those plugins?

Go ahead and try disabling all of your WordPress plugins. This will be temporary while we’re determining if a plugin is causing a conflict.

I went to the plugin section, selected all, clicked “deactivate” and apply, and was sent to a page titled “WordPress Failure Notice” with only the text “Are you sure you want to do this?” on it…

Alright, disabling plugins didn’t work, but I did do a batch update of plugins and now the hyperlink functionality is working.

    Thanks!

Glad that got sorted out in the end. 🙂
