@mod Judging from his profile description this profile is used for spam. In case it is not, I’m posting a response below.

@1manfactory Thanks for your honest judgement (I wouldn’t call a barely existing description a review). Can I tempt you to rethink your understanding of the review feature in the WordPress.org plugin repository?

Reviews here are not about taste, generally speaking. They should provide meaningful information for others whether or not a plugin does what it says it does. If a user (you) was left alone with issues that were not solved or not even replied to in the support forums, that user (you) was totally right to give a 1- or 2-star review and leave.

In other words, just dropping a negative review only saying you like another solution better you don’t provide any value, neither to me in order to be able to enhance my plugin, nor to other users. If you said something like “This plugin works as expected, it just lacks feature A, B and C” and then actually named one or two of the “better apps” you’re referring to, I’d not only be totally ok with you not liking my solution, I’d also be happy for the users coming after you who would be able to draw some value out of your review.

What really puzzles me is the fact you are author of 6 plugins yourself. How can you think those 7 words up there could possibly make any difference for anyone besides you (now having expressed your disapproval) and me (got my first ever plugin review and it sucks, so I’m highly motivated now—not)?

Read the title just now. It says right there in the FAQ:

I can’t find the settings page, where is it?
There is no settings page. You can customize the determination for post age, minimal age and, of course, the message itself via filters. Custom functions like these would go into the functions.php file of your active theme or—again—child theme: […]

Plugins are meant to help people to NOT work manually inside codes.
    Problems:
    – FTP? What is this?
    – functions.php of my theme? Yes, great, overwritten with next theme’s update. What do you say? I shall use a child theme? OK, sorry, sweetheart, Daddy’s got to learn new stuff he does not want to.
    – Oh, I have to set file permissions?
    – Great I always wanted to learn PHP
    – Automatic update of new plugin version? Great, so my hard edited settings inside the code will be overwritten
    – Damn my “About us” page will be marked also with this message, but I only wanted the posts to be marked…
    – I have an Online Shop where all my products will be marked as outdated. HELP!

Hence your “plugin” is completely useless.
Call it “beta” just like I did with one of mines and nobody will complain.

I do not follow? Last time I checked plugins were a tool to extend WordPress’ functionality. If a plugin provides ways of setting parameters other than on a dedicated settings page, it probably isn’t for you if you’d rather like a settings page. (You don’t like the no settings part, I got that.) The plugin itself can still be completely functional and useful.

    – Damn my “About us” page will be marked also with this message, but I only wanted the posts to be marked…

The default condition for posts being checked is is_single() which does not apply to pages.

Regardless of the plugin doing exactly what it says in the description, it is “useless” to you as you’ve put it. I can understand that, though I don’t follow most of the points you’re making.

However, thanks for coming back to clarify. I’d also like to take back the spam remark from above. If you ever feel like giving it a try again and those example modifications from the FAQ are no help, please feel free to post a support request at the forums.

For the rest of the world: A basic set of settings has been added in version 1.4.
