  • When I saw “MichaelH” and that thread title with (1 post) I was wondering why you would be asking something like that, cuz normally you’d be answering something like that. Sure enough.

Everyone who reverts, though, is eventually going to have to upgrade right? For security, etc, it just seems predictable that eventually we’ll all be sucked into the next version. Maybe waiting for 2.7.1 is a good idea. Or try installing a fresh WP 2.7 as a test site, to decide if you like the features, the layout, the way it works – before upgrading your core blog, and then potentially getting into all the troubles of rolling back. Good luck with your 2.7’s everyone!

Ive installed beta 3. I like it, but then I never liked the change away from what it was in 1.5

They undid, pretty much, everything that was crappy about the admin iface.

In a perfect world, everyone would have a database backup from which to restore, but that is not reality is it?

And of course, previous WordPress versions can be had at:
    http://wordpress.org/download/release-archive/

    😉

WordPress 2.7 isn’t working for me…too many issues with plugins, WordPress Direct or theme (not sure which). I need to revert back to the last version WordPress 2.6.5 until these things are updated.

The first post in this topic has a link which says nothing about how to revert WordPress

“This wp-hacker thread has information on the subject of reverting:
    http://comox.textdrive.com/pipermail/wp-hackers/2008-November/022732.html”

Is there directions for reverting somewhere?

    blessings,
    Wendy

WendyMerritt did you find instructions to revert? I need to roll back an installation from 2.8 to 2.7
    Thanks

i had the same problem today, i upgraded from wordpress 2.6.5 to wordpress 2.7.1
and i was surprised to see my admin panel gone and i cannot see the theme editor. it was useless.
for 6 hours, i searched for answers how to restore and how to downgrade, and by trial and error, finally i got my old wordpress 2.6.5 . Yehey!!! now, i have a lesson not to upgrade right away when told to do so.
    this is what i did,

    1. download your preferred old wordpress from here.
download, unzip and extract it. remember where you save the extracted file.
2.open filezilla, go to public_html, delete the wp-admin (of wordpress 2.7.1)
3.in filezilla local site, look for the wordpress file that you downloaded in step 1, right-click wp-admin, and upload.
    4. close all tabs and open your own http://yourwebsite.com/wp-admin
(replace yourwebsite.com with your own website name)

and voila!!! if it worked for me, i hope it will also work for you…
