I have to paster a large amount of text into the edit textbox on the edit page screen to update one of my pages. When I paste in the new version, it causes the browser to crash and hang. It worked fine previously.

  • Using 25 “long” paragraphs from http://www.cheeseipsum.co.uk/, I can’t replicate this. This is using chrome 39. What browser are you using? Can you use http://pastebin.com/ or a similar service and share the text that you are having trouble with?

I can somewhat replicate this, pasting large texts from Word into the editor in IE 11 pops up a modal telling me “Please use Ctrl+V/Cmd+V keyboard shortcuts to paste contents.” and then doesn’t paste my content (I used Ctrl+V to paste my content in the first place), it then proceeds to use excessive memory, but my text hasn’t been large enough to crash it, but I can see the memory usage grows with the size of the text.

Does not happen in Chrome 39 where it pastes the content as expected.

I’m thinking it’s relating to the TinyMCE’s parser feature when pasting from Office products and just the time and memory it needs to process this.

hi i am using ie 11 or 12. just out of habit i update a page with audio links weekly for the churxh so on a large page i add a few lines at the top. out of habit i usually selecting all then copying it into notepad ++. i then add some links at the top and try and cut and paste and do a select all in tye textbox and paste over it that back into the textbox. i dont have to do it like that. but the page us like 6700 words long so its alot of text. however in previous versions i could do a select all in the textbox then copy everything back over from notepad ++. i do not get the pop up messge but my cpu goes.to 100% and memory keeps.climbing. i was able to workaround it by just doing the small update inside the textbox but with a large set of html content its hard to do it in that edit page textbox.
