Hmm. Thanks for reporting, I”ll look into it, the customizer works fine just not live preview.

Hmm, ok, I’ll have to do more testing. to clarify your only seeing this because you haven’t every activated the theme right? Do you know what type of server your on?

Yes, I haven’t activated the theme – I’m only trying to see it in live preview. I know I am on a linux server.
Just to update – I created a brandnew (separate) WP installation on the same (linux) server and on this clean version I can get a live preview of Virtue theme without any problem so I really don’t know what the problem is with previewing it on my other WP site which is hosted on the same server.

I have a guess that it has to do with the theme options building the database entry in your site. If the theme isn’t and has never been activated the database is not built so the live preview isn’t loading because when it tries to load the customizer options to change theme options it can’t..
so to be clear if you activate the theme just once this isn’t an issue. Its only an issue if you’ve never been activated and it seems only at certain times.
I’m still working to come up with a good solution for a few cases where this would effect the live preview.

Actually I’m not sure – on the blank site I actived Virtue immediately and forgot to test whether a live preview was available. After playing around with the live theme I remembered to see if I could preview it, so I swapped themes for the clean site (ie restored the default that WP comes with) and then tried to preview Virtue – and that previewing worked. I don’t know whether it would have worked had I had it together enough to think of previewing it before turning it live and playing with it.
I purchased a theme “Community Junction” from themeforest. The live preview will not show. I tried using Chrome, IE and Firefox but it’s still not working. This is frustrating.
