Hi Guy,
Our directory can be translated into any language using the standard WordPress internationalization/localization mechanisms.
We’re currently working on adding WPML support to allow more dynamic languages here. The stumbling block right now appears to be them–we’ve submitted our app for testing, but they are slow to review it. If you want support for our plugin, go to WPML.org and tell them to hustle up with their review. 🙂
As for Polylang, we haven’t investigated that at all and I’m not certain that it will work with us since we’ve not certified it to do so.
Hi!
Thanks for the super-fast reply !!!
I really appreciate it.
The “standard” translation works fine with po-edit- that is not a problem.
I am using POLYLANG because it is free … please make an effort to work with them since many other users try the free option first and will bless you if you work with this great plugin.
As I said – it is already working “visually” the bug/problem is only minor – to get the link to show the correct directory entry.
why do you say “we’ve not certified to do so” ? what is needed to do so ?
Guy
Hi Guy,
Generally, things like this require us to do some testing to say “yep, this works with us!” We’ve done that with really popular plugins like Jetpack, W3TC, and WP-PageNavi when customers report issues.
This is the first I’ve actually heard of Polylang. The more popular choice, based on customer feedback seems to be WPML.
We’ll look into it, but I don’t have a specific timeframe when it will be available right now.
Thanks again!
I will look at the code too and let you know if I have a code change for that issue – and all will benefit from it…
=========
Since we are talking already – please consider another thing:
Put some strings out of the po file so we will have our own label.
Examples:
-
We are using your plugin to show Associations and not
Businesses , so I edited the po – but if it could be out of there it could be nice.
-
I as a wp developer can use your BD plugin to show a portfolio for my WP sites.
Just a thought 🙂
Guy
Hi Guy,
Thanks for your comments and suggestions here–we’ll consider them for a future release.
Hi again.
I need some guidance from your side.
I am looking on the directory listing on the site admin:
http://index.myinspire.co.il/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=wpbdp_listing
I have two directories , one for Hebrew and the other for English
When I hover on the “view” link of one of the listing I see:
http://index.myinspire.co.il/associations-directory/136/ilan-israeli-foundation-handicapped-children/
The other one is in hebrew:
http://index.myinspire.co.il/associations-directory/81/%d7%90%d7%99%d7%9c%d7%9f-%d7%90%d7%99%d7%92%d7%95%d7%93-%d7%99%d7%a9%d7%a8%d7%90%d7%9c%d7%99-%d7%9c%d7%99%d7%9c%d7%93%d7%99%d7%9d-%d7%a0%d7%a4%d7%92%d7%a2%d7%99%d7%9d/
However when I click view – it does not show the Hebrew(id=81) entry but the English one (id=136)
When in the code is the “view” button please ?
Guy
Hi Guy,
We have a full customization guide that outlines what files are used for which purpose here: http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/docs/customization-guide/
I believe that should guide you a bit better. But as I said before, since we don’t technically support Polylang, if they are doing something with URLs to set language attributes, we wouldn’t understand that.
