Have you tried contacting the theme’s author about it? They would most likely know the codebase better.
Have you recently updated anything? That’s one thing I can think of that would cause a change or even a plugin update that could conflict, and now getting ahead of myself, so please contact the theme’s author first and see what they have to say. 🙂
I have tried to contact Colorlib but their forum just brings me back to WordPress.
I did update some plugins but when I saw the problem on the front page of my website I deleted them all.
Thanks anyway
I’m sorry to hear that. 🙁
If I get a chance I will try to take a look! 🙂
From a quick look I took in trying to find their forums I noticed the theme is based on attitude which is in the WordPress.org repo. 🙂
Okay, did a little tinkering and here are my results:
I can’t seem to reproduce the issue but did notice one thing:
<li class="facebook"><a href="http://facebook.com/**user**" title="<span class="gftitle_customized">Sally out and About - Food, Wine, Travel and Gardening</span> on Facebook" target="_blank"></a></li>
As you can tell there seems to be a span
tag that is being added. Have you made any changes to the theme? I think this is part of the reason. Have you tried installing a new, clean version of the theme?
Many thanks for having a look. I haven’t made any changes to the theme. If I install a fresh version will I lose all my data. As you can see I am a novice
What you can do is rename the old files or rename the folder to try and see if that resolves the issue.
There is some plugin or script that you have installed that replaces certain classes with this:
<span class="gftitle_customized">Sally out and About – Food, Wine, Travel and Gardening</span>
Here is another example if your website source that just shouldn’t be there:
<script type="text/javascript" src="https://www.google.com/jsapi"></script><!-- <span class="gftitle_customized">Sally out and About - Food, Wine, Travel and Gardening</span> Custom CSS Styles -->
Make sure to disable completely all plugins to see which one causes this issue. Maybe some previously installed plugin left some marks then you just have to reinstall theme. Which is not difficult as you need to remove it via dashboard and install it again. No customizations done via Theme Options or WordPress Customizer will be lost because these are saved on database.
What about colorlib support forum? Could you please explain a bit more how you get redirected to WordPress.org. Over 2,500 people are using this forum without any issues.
I have removed all plugins and reactivated them. But no change in the situation.
When I go to Colorlib support page and try to activate a new post it redirects me to WP org website
Did you check your website when all your plugins were disabled?
Please disable those plugins and notify me and I will look into your website.
Hi, I have deactivated all of them Thanks for your time
You haven’t disabled all plugins sine Meta Slider is still there and working. But as you can see all problems with your website are gone. Now you just have to find plugin which causes the issues and remove it completely. Then you can use default social media icons available via Appearance – Theme Options – Social Links.
I have now found the problem I went to theme options – social And deleted my links to facebook and twitter.
Also the of the site header has come back to white.
Many thanks for your time
It has dine me a favour because I didn’t want the social icons showing in my header anyway.
Again many thanks
Glad to see you got this sorted out!
