• Just recently, my multi-site did an auto-update to 3.9.2.
All my sites (network of 10 sites) gave 404 errors afterwards that was fixed by resaving permalinks.

Just wondering if it might be a good idea to have a function to resave existing permalink settings after these auto update (or any update)

That’s never supposed to happen and something is wrong with your installation. I’ve upgraded my multisite since multisite was made part of WordPress core and I’ve never had that problem.

Do you have any plugins in your mu-plugins directory? That behavior should never occur.

There are a number of plugins, so that could well be the case. This affected Woocommerce sites the worst, but also affect some pages in a theme without Woo, but also with a lot of plugins.

Only reason I was thinking of the auto-save is because there is no harm in re-saving existing functions… I looked for a plugin that might do it.
