I’m trying to figure this plug-in out and could use a pointer from the community.

I setup the plugin to to find the word ‘blogging’ and link in to/with the url test.com. That works as expected. But when I turn the Clock Links setting on I get a 404 trying to find mysite.com/goto/1/blogging. I was expecting to see the test.com homepage clocked under mysite..com/goto/1/blogging not our 404 page. Is the behavior I was expecting possible with this plugin? and if so what settings need to be adjusted?

    Regards,
    Kevin

Hello. I would like to investigate this issue. Can you share your website link with me so I can check what is happening ? What are your wordpress permalink settings ?

The permalinks are set to “Post name”.

    Here are the plugin settings:

Check this page for an example – the keyword “blogging” was found but the link is to a 404 when cloak is set to on.

What should we expect when ‘clock links’ is set on?

    Thanks for looking into this.

I have just checked your website, when I click on “blogging” links which is automatically added, it brings me to http://test.com . Can you confirm that you get a 404 error when you clik on the link ?

The 404 issues was on my side and now fixed.

I misunderstood what Cloaking was supposed to do. I was looking for the destination URL to be Rendered in the browser AND the URL in the address bar to display as the cloaked address – not the destination URL.

It appears this plug does a redirect (?) to the destination instead of (e.g.) framing the destination under our domain.

This is a handy plug-in but doesn’t get me to the solution I am looking for. Any thoughts on how to keep the address bar url on our domain? Framing appears to have it’s challenges too.

Framing is problematic. Most people dislike framing because it can be used by scammers and hackers to get seisitive data or trick customers.

For example, malicious sites can frame paypal, or bank websites to trick users into typing their data which will be intercepted by the scammers. Framing causes security issues on both ends, if you are framing a website which has malicious code inside, they can find a way to get sensitive data from your customers, cookies stored on your behalf or run brute force attacks that will appear coming from your server.

For these reasons, many big websites block their site to be framed. For example if you try to add Youtube or Amazon website into a frame, it won’t work. Also, if you website is not using a secured connection, but the framed website is forcing users to use it, the browser will send warning signals to your users.

If you tell me what are you trying to achieve trough framing, I might be able to give you an alternate solution, or a working one for you cause.
