• Dear Anders,

first of all: great work! My hardest decision was which of your themes to choose. Thanks a lot for sharing your work!!

Finally I’ve chosen the Baskerville Theme and I’ve used every post format you support for the masonry style container posts on the main page.
Everthing works fine except for the Video Format.

Months ago you wrote the following:

If you select the video format, a meta box with the title “Video URL” should appear. Paste the link to the video into it and save the post. The video should now be displayed in the video container.

I just tried to post a Vimeo link like you did in your Theme Demo by using this URL: http://vimeo.com/10750607

Unfortunately the video doesn’t show up in the video container although I followed the steps of your description.

I could use the source URL like “https://avvimeo-a.akamaihd.net/49054/140/18710889.mp4?token2=1415801813_1046c214b15a8d3a5017940b9c0a3859&aksessionid=17fcca6d9217a1ec” but I don’t think that it is intended to work this way…

I’d be more than happy if you or anybody else can help me on this matter.

    Cheers from Germany 🙂

Unfortunately the very same problem applies to the Lingonberry Theme, too.

I’m still desperately trying to fix this somehow but I’m just not able to…

I’m wondering if the fix is related to how I fixed the Audio Format. Can you try making an audio post and see if you have the same issue?

    Hi Steven!

First of all I’ve finally ended up with “Garfunkel”, my favorite theme among these beautiful works of Anders.

But with Baskerville the Audio Post Format worked fine when I uploaded an audiofile and referred to the URL of this file within the audio post.

Still the video post format isn’t working with Garfunkel either. Have you any ideas how I could possibly fix this for Garfunkel? And could you please tell me about your solution for the audio post format? Which theme are you working with?

    Cheers!

I love all of Anders themes as well. He is one of the few designers who understands that themes need to degrade gracefully in older browsers.

I found that Anders had written his own integration with the MediaElements.js code instead of leaning on the version that has been integrated into core since WordPRess v3.6.

It is possible that Anders started these themes before 3.6 and saw no reason to migrate to the built in library.

For my child theme, I replaced his call to his custom theme with one that calls the built-in version. And, I deactivated his custom styling of the element. It only took minor padding added to the default audio element to make it work as featured content. And now, it styles the same way no matter where I use an audio element (featured, in post, or sidebar).

I have made child themes of Hemingway (Bumby), Garfunkel (Carbuncle), and Baskerville (A Study in CSS).

Currently, Baskerville is my parent theme.

Never done this before… but: challenge accepted! 😉

Creating and using a child theme definitely makes sense to me. Therefore I’ll start off with that. And then I’ll try to figure out how to change or replace the calls to the built-in functions.

I can follow you concerning the reasons for these problems but still it seems a little odd to me that his own integrated functions don’t work due to WP updates. Would be nice to know what Anders Noren says about it…

Thanks a lot for helping me out so far!!

I think that what I was seeing was Anders’ styles possibly conflicting with default WP style choices and my own.
