• If I look under the supercache directory, I see two folders, one named after the site myblog.com, and another one named after the IP of Yahoo’s search engine bots. This “special treatment” is perceived by the bots as some kind of shady redirect or cloaking practice that got my blog totally banned from Yahoo’s search results, to the point where not even the name of the domain name shows up. This is a very popular site that had thousands of results previously, and Yahoo has confirmed that the site got banned for non compliance with their Guidelines.

I would appreciate suggestions as to why WP Super Cache is creating a special folder to handle Yahoo’s bots and how to avoid it.

  • That’s weird. What happens if you visit that IP address? Does it redirect to your blog or serve the blog immediately? You should probably add a mod_rewrite rule to redirect to the blog because obviously there’s a link somewhere on the net to that IP address that Yahoo followed.
