• I’ve put Simple Social Icons on 3 new Genesis sites in the past couple months, and I couldn’t figure out why I could never get the social icons to change size or border radius or color from what the defaults were.

I could change the settings in the widgets, but the configurations of the actual buttons on the live website would never change from the defaults, and I saw this in action with the sample child theme, Epik, and Executive Pro.

Turns out there’s a conflict with Genesis Title Toggle. I had that plugin enabled on all the previous sites with this behavior, and on the newest site I’m working on, it’s installed but not enabled yet, and as a result the icons change size as expected.

I did two tests on two different sites, and the following behavior was observed… it seems as if when Title Toggle is enabled first, then Social Icons is enabled and configured after, the Social Icons settings do not change. But if Social Icons is enabled and configured first, and Title Toggle enabled afterwards, any subsequent changes to Social Icons will work.

    That’s weird. Amusing, but weird.
