  • That is not a WordPress prompt you are seeing. Depending on what browser you are using, it reads, in part “Please enter the following user/password – User: ‘wordpress’ Password: ‘australia'”.

If you follow those instructions, you will get to the normal WordPress login page, and get an error message if you type a bad username or password. I just tried it. It works.

That initial prompt is either from your web host or a WordPress plugin. You’ll probably want to get rid of it, but that is just my opinion.

    who is your webhosting company?

Actually, I’m having the exact same issue – my site is on GoDaddy.Com, and I got thrown out of the site about 20 minutes ago – I didn’t hit any “sign out” button, or anything.

Now when I go back to my site, it will not let me back in. AT ALL. The site is up and running, but it refuses to accept my name and password on the basic WordPress sign in screen.

I called GoDaddy, and they said they can’t help as it’s a WordPress issue. I go to my standard sign-in site – http://pnrnetworks.popcornnroses.com/wp-login.php – and put in the correct information. It either just clears everything on the same screen for me to input it again OR I get the following error message –
Fatal error: Cannot call overloaded function for non-object in /home/pnrnetadmin/public_html/pnrnetworks/wp-includes/class-wp.php on line 529

Sorry for butting in on this thread, but it sounds like we might have a similar issue; and is there any way to fix it?

    Thanks

This is a completely separate issue, as the original poster is getting a prompt that does not come from WordPress itself, though it may be coming from a WordPress plugin.

I haven’t heard of this kind of problem before, but I have never used GoDaddy as a web host.

On second thought, I could see a misguided WordPress security plugin causing a problem like this. Have a look at your plugins and try deactivating any security plugins and see if the problem still occurs.
