• I am about to start to comprehensie multisites and see exciting potential with this plugin.

Can you please clarify the status of setting a featured image from a shared media network as this is a deal breaker.

Also maybe a suggestion that you can actually dictate which libraries in the multisite can be shared?? There would potentially be some blogs that I would not want to share the media from so it would be good if you could select which ones are and are not? In fact in my view what would be most common is you have a media library ie one blog’s media that you would share across all blogs and then you would place all media you want to share in that blogs media library??

Anyway will keep a close eye on this plugin as I said it have great appeal.

  • We are also looking for a manner to restrict which blogs can provide content to other blogs, just like you’ve described above.

If we could do that, this would be a perfect plugin!

    Hi,

Content restriction is based on user-capabilities. It’s not based on blogs accessing blogs.

Any user that has the upload_files capability in the blog you want to share the images from, can access those files.

So when you have User1 (editor of SiteA) and you want that user to access the media in SiteB, User1 must be given upload_files capability in SiteB.

About the featured images: I’m afraid that the current WordPress code does not (always) allow me to support it. Eg. the wp_get_attachment_image_src and wp_get_attachment_image WordPress functions cannot be “modified” by my plugin.
A somewhat older proof of concept with featured image support is available here, but if it works depends on how the themes implemented the featured image. Eg. TwentyTen does not work.
