• I really wanted to like this. The idea, the price and level of protection are great…in theory.

The plugin says that it features one click installation but fails to mention that you’ll need to have more knowledge than just click and go for the rest of the software. It is a far cry from intuitive and all the additional info/instructions aren’t written very clearly (not for the average lay person).

Several of my plugins were blocked by bulletproof, like broken link checker,(which is fine…I understand that some perfectly harmless plugins can look like potential threats) but the “easy” instructions for resolving the issues weren’t so easy to someone who doesn’t have advanced knowledge of coding and isn’t confident poking around in essential files. You can’t even find a simple answer on how to uninstall it…the “easy” (and only) answer I found was to delete the file it created but was provided with no way to actually find said file.

This plugin is not as easy to use as the creators would have you believe. For an intermediate novice, it’s intimidating and frustrating to use, even with the documentation. With the help of my host (who was kind enough to help me – the customer service agent is familiar with bulletproof) I was finally able to uninstall.

I hope a more truly user-friendly and intuitive version of this plugin will be rolled out so that those of us with less tech knowledge can still keep our sites safe from hackers. Simplify, simplify, simplify. If you guys can make it a genuinely user-friendly experience I’ll be back in a heartbeat.

Sorry you had a rough time. Most folks feel BPS is a very easy plugin to use. BPS does not require that you have any knowledge of coding to use BPS – You can find years of documention, “fixes” and other info here: http://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/read-me-first-free/#bps-free-general-troubleshooting and do a copy and paste paint by numbers thing. 😉 If you don’t find the answer you’re looking for you can either post a question in the BPS plugin support forum on wordpress.org or on the BPS support forum on the ait-pro.com website by using the link above.

Yes, BPS is one-click. One-click is a concept and should not be taken literally. ie something might take 4 clicks to complete so the one-click concept means that you do not have to figure things out manually and can just click buttons instead.

    Thanks for the feedback!

I have to agree with kissesan. I don’t know what to click, what to activate, and fear totally crashing my site if I do something wrong. And after updating yesterday, when I go to the BPS settings page, the display is totally awry. The left-side WP menu now spans the entire page and the actual plugin dashboard is way below. I tried manually adding the Bonus protection code somewhere.

anyway, between the geek emphasis and the now messed up Dashboard display, I deactivated this plugin and will look for something simpler.

@car57 or kissesan – if you have any suggestions about how to make BPS even simpler to setup, use, troubleshoot and fix issues/problems then please post your ideas and suggestions. To be honest with you guys we regularly test plugins and have probably tested in the neighborhood of 4,000 plugins. In comparison to all of those plugins, BPS is in the really simple to setup, use, troubleshoot and fix issues/problems plugin category, but maybe we have not thought of an idea to make BPS even simpler so let us know if you have any ideas or thoughts about that.
