• I must have missed something. Isn’t it default that when S2Member is installed anyone visiting the membership site domain address they will be shown the gate i.e. the login/registration page? Where did I go wrong? Cannot find the misstep in any of the videos or in here.

  • No, it’s not the default. Users are shown whatever you set as the home page.

If you want them to see the login or registration page, you have to set that as the home page. But don’t try setting the MOP as the home page. That won’t work.

Left this alone for a bit.
Still cannot get the opening sequence to work like I think it is supposed & I’d like it to.
When anyone comes to the site, member or first time visitor, they see the page where they can login, if a member, or register if they are not a member.
I am not setting up a paid subscription yet so it’s come one come all right now.
Open registration is set to yes-Free Subscribers level#0.
Design is the way I want for the registration page.
I believe I have followed all the tutorials and yet if I go to the site as a visitor I don’t get the registration/login page.
Do I have to set a redirect to this page at my hosting level ?

I thought S2Member had that function built in when you configure that page in design.
Any help would be appreciated as I now am coming on a deadline.

You just need to set the registration page as your home page. That’s it. No redirects required. No overthinking!

    Still not happening.
I am curious also that when I login to the wp admin it calls up the S2Member login.
    Somehow that can’t be right.
It says to me anyone who logs in would have access to admin for the site.
I’ve tried changing menus in WP, static page to establish the home page and I can’t configure it to call up the reg/log page.
I think I am going to tear down all the pages and start over.
    Something is just not connecting.
    Thanks for your help KTS915.

Hmm, before you do that, I’d check for a plugin or theme conflict.

    Good thought.
The only plugin was S2Member so I changed the theme.
I was using the Adamos theme for the responsive functionality.
I went to the simple Twenty Ten.
It still was acting the same.
It must have taken a little time to clear through my Hosting.
Went back into S2Member and the appearance of it’s pages totally changed.
Before it was the organized with drop down/expand the category of functions, whereas now it is one long off-white typical WP admin page.
Don’t really care because now it is working properly but with all the trouble getting to here, I guess all due to Adamos theme,I find this odd.
    Again, thanks for your help.

I agree that it sounds odd. I use another theme by the same developer who created Adamos, and which essentially shares the same functionality, and I don’t have any problems.

The fact that it’s apparently OK now makes me think that this might be due to some caching that your host is running. Maybe you should ask because, if so, it might cause another problem down the road.
