I’ve attached an image to my post, then added the URL to the relevant field on the post that is part of the WPSSO options.

When I use the card validator tool, the image is displayed with the summary, but when I tweet the post, it just looks like a regular tweet unless I click on the View summary link.

Any trouble shooting I can do?

    Thanks

Twitter Cards are a feature of the Pro version. Since the forums on wordpress.org are for Free versions only, it would be best to open a ticket here http://support.wpsso.surniaulula.com/support/tickets/new for Pro version questions / issues in the future. 😉

Twitter Cards are displayed as “extra” information with the tweet. Some twitter client apps show this extra information by default, some don’t show it at all, and some will display it as a link to click in order to expand the tweet.

To include an image *in* the tweet, that image must be uploaded to Twitter — this is not something that can be done with meta tags in your webpages. I will release an extension for WPSSO to do this in a few months, but for now, you may want to look at some of the “social auto-posting” plugins currently available — make sure the one you choose has a feature to upload an image with the tweet. 😉

    Thanks for the reply.

So what is the purpose of this feature in the plugin if its not to display the images in the Tweet as a Twitter card?

Do not confuse a tweet that includes an image with Twitter Cards.

WPSSO supports all seven types of Twitter Cards (though the App Card needs the WPSSO App Meta extension plugin). WPSSO adds meta tags to webpage headers, which are then read by all the social crawlers, but it does not “tweet” text and images — you’ll need an “auto-posting” plugin for that (if you don’t want to do it manually). I’m hoping to start work on a WPSSO extension to do this shortly, but it will take a few months to write and test.
